Welcome to my life and experiences as a dad, racer, motorcycle and motorsports enthusiast. I hope you enjoy my adventures and are inspired to create your own along the way! If you wanna know more about me, I have a blog that you might find interesting too: www.john5xr.com/
What started out as a 2019 Honda Monkey Walkthrough video has now grown into a channel highlighting my adventures, both on motorcycles and with my family.
Starting at 3-years old and growing up on a 1985 Honda ATC-70 in the mountains of Upstate NY made me a Honda fan before I knew what Honda's were. Riding woods and trails alongside my dad on his 1984 ATC-125 or 1970 Trail 70, we experienced how riding can create memories that will last a lifetime. What I experienced as a kid with my father, I am now experiencing with my own family. With my sons Rennen and Kallen alongside, we are experiencing the same joys as I experienced as a kid with our off-roading adventures.

Experiencing the 2023 Barber Small Bore Motorcycle Event on my Honda Monkey 125!
If you're an owner or an enthusiast of small bore motorcycles, you really owe it to yourself to bookmark the Barber Small Bore event on your calendar for next year! Held in early June at the stunning Barber Motorsports Park near Birmingham Alabama, this event draws hundreds (if not thousands) to one of the most immaculate motorsports facilities in the world (and I've been to a few!). Hosted by the best small bore brand out there (MNNTHBX), there is plenty to keep the small bore rider busy, from: motocross racing, woods racing, straight rhythm racing, trail riding, road course racing, drag racing, stunt shows and a special stunt riding area, and plenty of vendor displays to highlight the best brands in this industry. If that's not enough, you get to free roam the entire facility or even head outside the confines and explore one of the pre-scouted area ride routes on your small bore. It really has everything, and I made sure to cram everything I could into my day at this amazing event!

#dualsport #hondacrf #crf450rl #crf450l After equipping the Honda CRF450RL with some appropriate motocross wheels and tires, we visited Highland Park Off Road Resort in Cedartown Georgia for a day of trail riding and all of the motocross track riding we could handle! This was a perfect opportunity for me to ease into riding the RL on a track, as we basically had the whole place to ourselves. I ...
Most expensive CRF450RL upgrade yet?! | INSTALLING CUSTOM WHEELS & TIRES ON MY 2022 HONDA CRF450RL
Переглядів 8837 місяців тому
#hondacrf #crf450rl #hondacrf Boy this upgrade certainly was expensive, but they sure are pretty! When I decided I was going to use my CRF450RL mostly on dirt, I realized the stock tires really sucked for dirt use, especially in sugar sand where I do most of my riding here in Florida! I NEEDED some grip, but the tires I needed for this (Dunlop Geomax MX12 sand and mud tires) would not be what I...

#hondacrf450l #hondacrf #dualsport The stock tires on the 2022 Honda CRF450RL are not going to be adequate for the majority of the riding that I do, so what's the options? The simple route would be to just replace the tires with more aggressive knobbies, but this will cause my on-road riding (which I still seldomly do) to be a bit dangerous, and not to mention wear out whatever race tire I choo...

#crf450l #hondacrf #dualsport thrillseekers.com/pages/3d-customizer The seat cover that comes stock on the 2022 Honda CRF450RL is just fine, it doesn't need replaced and is adequate for whatever I could possibly get into with my bike - BUT - it was red... There is SO much red on this bike that I needed to break up the color a bit, and being a vintage motocross racer, my eyes always find the vin...

Sometimes upgrades don't need to be about horsepower and performance to be fun. In this case, this upgrade was more useful than anything else, but is still fun as you're upgrading and accessorizing your CRF450RL. I'm a fan of the company Thrill Seekers (thrillseekers.com/). I imagine them as a small crew of SoCal dirt bike riders that are putting fun first and making very "vibe'y" products that...
Upgrading the 2022 Honda CRF450RL | What I KNOW it needs, and what I plan to do about knowing that
Переглядів 1,3 тис.10 місяців тому
One thing I can confidently say about the 2022 Honda CRF450RL is I knew long before I purchased it, that it was one of those bikes that "needs things to be better". This is a tough pill to swallow, as with anything brand new, you feel you shouldn't have to improve on anything really, right? Shouldn't these bikes be continually improved by the manufacturers? Yes and no.... Dual sport bikes are n...

A good idea is to use copper anti seize compound on all screws.
Are you good? Haven't had any videos from you in a while.
Yeah man, all is excellent actually! Last year I started coaching my kids travel hockey team and that occupied the majority of my spare time. In January I got a promotion at work and with it, came going back to college to work on a degree, and that robbed even more time, leaving nothing for editing and producing videos unfortunately. Since then, I’ve made some changes in my motorcycle fleet too. I thinned out my fleet and sold the Grom, Monkey, and bought a 21’ GasGas 300EX, then traded the 450RL for a Can Am 4-wheeler for my wife. Big changes, but I feel as if I’m living in my peak family life at the moment! I’m also helping my kids build their UA-cam channels too, so all is more than well, just needed to refocus my time a bit. I’ll get back into it someday, probably when hockey season is over in March 2025… lol
Lol or buy a different bike from the get.
Way beyond this now. Current bike is a GasGas 300EX and it’s unstoppable in the woods 👌
Excellent presentation--thanks so much!!
Mine came just a few hours ago and she sits in the garage until morning, can’t wait.
What kind of tires do you have ?
buy the bike for $4,grand USD. drop another $4,grandUSD in hop us, and still a underperforming slug. my old klr 650 is a slug but i do not need to drop thousands into it just to ride on dirt roads. and it can do freeway's no problem…just not cross county on the slab. it is at home on dirt roads. but i am getting old. and a heavy tall bike is not for me any longer.
Thanks
Yamaha has a child size machine that has a reputation of being really safe as well as fun for the child. Have you heard of this bike by Yamaha?
More like the Suzuki Jimny
That’s so rad!! 🤙🏽
Ya dont need to take off the front sprocket guard. Use a piece of mechanics wire from the old to new chain and pull it through.
If you want more power. Buy a bigger bike. The 125 trail is awesome with 9 HP.
Hey. What's the valve clearance for the stage 3?
.003
Thank you 😊
After spending $1000 for a 16E for my grandson, I don't want to be a mechanic, thanks for the warning
I think I'll leave it.
Sadly i wish all the rear shocks where the same there not :( if you have a late model 80s -mid 90s the rear shock cannot be taken apart my kids have a 1993 pw50 in rebuilding and rear shocks do not have the nut thing yours does nor are they theaded to be taken off
can i change only the springs ????????????????????????
For over 50 years, Honda motorcycles need the battery to start and run. Dead battery- dead bike. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
How can you make it climb steep hills better?
wild... the Honda factory seat comfort was one of the biggest selling points for me...I couldnt imagine changing it out ... 🤷♂️..
The battery just starts the bike. The engine supplies the electricity for everything.
How would you compare it to the xr400r, I mean power
Can you post a link for the exhaust?
Is it strong enough for an adult? Asking for a friend..
switch system very easy to remove
fuse
no fuse on e if its brushless
what's the size of the Clutch Nut Removal tool ? and the springs 60% ?
My front forks spin freely. Put tire on and can pinch the front tire with feet and easily twist the handle bars crooked. Any idea?
Fun video!
90 mph limit??? Where in the USA have that limit?
What a great dad!!
That's not going to add any horsepower you're going to have to do a lot more modifications than that
Why Are You Asking me of corse the Honda CRF50F is great for a 5-Year-Old
Great video. My wife just bought one just like this used. Does that gasket from the exaust port (that you had a hard time getting out) , does that have to be replaced? Her used one didn't come with one. Thanks
I am not sure that top speed is going to be the metric by which to gage whether there was an increase in hp. In this case obviously there was a decrease, but as I understand it, the computer driven EFI acts as a governor and won't let the engine go over a set RPM on the road. Had the speed been identical before and after the spark arrestor been removed then another way to try it might have been to gear up the sprockets to the point where (by using a tiny tach) that top EFI governed RPM couldn't be reached with stock exhaust and then run the experiment. Probably best to use the GPS method as the speedometer will not be accurate any longer. Then if the bike does go faster then you will know if the mod helped hp or not.
I have the 12, it’s been through 2 kids and still going.
The little rubber thing is a joker valve. They're common on marine toilets.
You can gain 1 hp (10%) by just cutting the screen portion off with no increase in noise if you don't need to ride where spark arrestors are needed. Someone has proven this with dyno testing.
Do you know the size of the front axle and spacers??
I like quiet pipes for late night riding. Don't want A-HOLE cops hearing loud pipes and following the sound just to screw with me like the cops in COMMUNIST countries do.
With all the Videos that I saw about the Honda Monkey going off-road, I'm really confused as to why the CT125 it's not more Popular.
I went there
Needs a hand brake to stop it from rolling back when you park it on a side stand when you park it front on a hill, Check it out...
The good old heal shifter if you put a little weight on it doesn't it become a false nuetral for rolling down hills?
❤
Gotta have one. How much out the door?
Good review video John, Can we invite you to do a review video for our air pump?
I had a Trail 70 when I was 10 years old they were made to fold the handlebars up and travel with you camping ! Then you could get around at campgrounds with it pretty neat !!!
I see way too many of these zombied out old farts driving the cars across the block..
